How to use ID.me for the NPDB

ID.me Sign In

The NPDB has partnered with ID.me to comply with the federal government's security requirements issued by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) exit icon. The NPDB requires multi-factor authentication (MFA) and Identity Verification for all user accounts.

Visit these support resources for help with your ID.me account.

Multi-factor authentication (MFA)

Multi-factor authentication, or MFA, is an authentication method that requires the user to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to a resource such as an application, online account, or a VPN. MFA requires something you know, like a password, and something you have, like a mobile phone, for authentication.

Identity Verification

If your ID.me account is not identity verified, choose an option to verify your identity. The fastest option is "Self-Service", which can be completed in only a few minutes.

Once identity verified, select Allow to allow ID.me to share your information with the NPDB. You are then returned to NPDB.

For additional instructions on how to sign in with ID.me, create a new account, and verify your identity, visit Health and Human Services Department and ID.me exit icon.
