Are healthcare organizations at the risk of lawsuits when a report is made to NPDB?
Generally, no. The regulations governing the NPDB offer protection for individuals, entities, and their authorized agents. They are immune from civil liability for reporting to the NPDB, unless they have actual knowledge that the information in the report is false.
